FOSTERING HOPE

Providing meaningful connection and support for foster and adoptive families in Central Virginia.

Happy Mother and Daughter against a Brick Wall

Foster and adoptive families need community to surround them in their calling .

God’s heart for His people is the “pure religion” of James 1:27 – that we would “visit widows and orphans in their affliction.” Caring for orphans and foster children is not only for those who adopt or foster children but it is for everyone who desires “pure religion.” Foster and adoptive families need community to surround them in their calling and this is how we can all be involved.

Are you a family in need of support?

Fostering Hope and its army of volunteers stand ready to come alongside foster/adoptive families to provide support and encouragement as well as help meet the practical and unique needs families face.

The best place to start is to come to our monthly meeting, which takes place on the first Saturday of each month from 3:00 to 5:00 pm at Rivermont Evangelical Presbyterian Church. The church is located at 2424 Rivermont Avenue.

Are you ready to support these families?

Parents who foster or adopt need to know they’ll be well-supported when a child arrives in their home. Foster children, as well as adopted children, have unique needs and require intentional focus from their new parents. As we can support these families in practical, hands-on ways, this care will provide a healthier context for a child’s transition into their new home. Volunteers offer support in the following ways:

  • Bringing weekly meals
  • Supplying or sourcing practical needs - eg. bunk beds, strollers, carseats, clothing...
  • Transporting children to appointments
  • Mentoring children
  • Coordinating volunteers for a foster family
  • Lawn care
  • Providing babysitting

To volunteer, fill out this interest form and one of our team members will be in touch.

See what our parents have to say about Fostering Hope.

“After no less than three therapy/doctor appts. for my foster kids in one day, I cannot tell you what a beautiful thing it was to have a dinner delivered that evening.”

“My daughter’s Fostering Hope mentor is the only person in my foster daughter’s life who isn’t getting paid to hang out with her.”

One foster mom was feeling particularly discouraged when a team member dropped off dinner and a note of encouragement. She said, “It brought me to tears! What you people are doing is such a wonderful thing!”
